Compromise of 1850 (1850)

I just do not understand how any human being can come to the realization that slavery is fine to practice! Now, it seems that everything the North does, the South complains about. Because of this, the South now wants a compromise in favor of slavery. Since I live in the North, I think slavery should be outlawed in the United States, making myself a Northern Abolitionist. In addition, this new Compromise of 1850 is in total favor of the South, leaving out the North's views. The men of Henry Clay, Stephen Douglas, and Daniel Webster are all in favor of slavery, making the compromise lenient towards the South. The only idea that the north gets out of this is California becoming a free state. On the other hand, now the massive state of Texas is slave, there is a stricter Fugitive Slave Law, and this still allows the practice of slavery in the capital. This outcome shows how the north had NO representation in this compromise, forcing strong abolitionists to return runaway slaves to their owners or they would be arrested, and all the new territories from the Mexican Cession get to vote whether or not they are a free or slave state. This just does not make any sense. I have a feeling that if the north does not get any benefits towards prohibiting slavery soon, a civil war could break out between the North and South!
